Privacy Policy

You know how some apps are always trying to sneak your data out the back door? Not us. Here at Über Ninja we're all about your digital peace of mind. We don't want your passwords, we don't want your searches, and we don't want to build a profile of you. What little we do collect is 100% anonymous, and you can turn it off completely any time you like.

This policy covers the Über Ninja desktop app (macOS and Windows) and the Über Ninja browser extension (together, the "App"). It doesn't cover the third-party sites the App opens for you — more on those in section 4.

1. What the App Is

Über Ninja is a productivity launcher. You type a search or prompt once, and the App opens one or more browser windows or tabs — search engines, AI chat assistants, AI image generators, shopping sites, social and messaging apps, whatever you've set up — already filled in with your query. We don't host, run, or control any of those destination services. We just get you there fast.

2. What Stays On Your Computer

Your settings live on your machine and never leave it. That includes:

• Your chosen keyboard shortcut
• Favorited/pinned destinations and recently used items
• Whether you've already seen onboarding or one-time notices (like a login reminder)

None of this is transmitted to us or synced to any server by the App.

3. What We Actually Collect

The App uses PostHog, a third-party analytics service, to see which features people use and to catch crashes. That's it. It may include:

• Feature usage events (e.g., which shortcuts or destinations get used)
• Crash and error reports
• Basic device info like your operating system and app version

It travels over an encrypted connection, and we never use it to build a profile of your searches or what you do on the sites you visit.

What we never collect

• Your logins. We don't collect, view, or store usernames or passwords for any site. When you sign into Google, ChatGPT, or Slack in a window the App opened, that happens directly between you and that site.
• What you type. Your query goes straight into the site you're searching. We never keep a copy of it.
• Accounts and payments. Über Ninja doesn't require an account and doesn't process payments or subscriptions.

4. Turning It All Off

We believe in giving you control. Open Settings in the App, find Tracking, and choose No search terms, no clicks, no metrics, nothing. From that moment on, nothing is collected or sent — no events, no crash reports, nothing at all. The App works exactly the same either way.

5. The Sites We Open For You

Über Ninja is a launcher, so it opens third-party sites and apps you choose — Google, OpenAI/ChatGPT, Anthropic/Claude, Google Gemini, Microsoft Copilot, Meta platforms (Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, Messenger), X, TikTok, Reddit, Discord, Slack, shopping and travel sites, AI image tools, and more. Once one of those windows is open, everything you do there — accounts you log into, data you submit, cookies they set — is governed by that company's own privacy policy and terms, not ours. We can't see it and we don't control it, so it's worth a look at their policies.

6. Browser Extension Permissions

The extension asks for a few permissions to make one-click, multi-site search work:

• Tabs — to open and manage your search tabs
• History — for search suggestions and related features
• Bookmarks — for search suggestions and related features
• Storage — to save your preferences locally in the browser

These are used inside your browser to make the extension work. Your history and bookmarks stay in your browser — the extension never sends them to us.

7. How We Use It

The little we collect is used only to:

• Keep the App working and make it better
• Find and fix crashes and errors
• See which features people actually use, so we know what to build next

8. Data Retention

Your local settings stay on your device until you clear them — uninstall the App or clear the extension's storage and they're gone. Anonymous usage data is kept only as long as it's useful for improving the App, and then it goes away.

9. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. Full stop. We share limited analytics data with PostHog, our analytics provider, purely to run and improve the App. We'd only disclose information if the law required it or to protect our legal rights.

10. Children's Privacy

The App isn't directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them.

11. Your Choices

• Switch off tracking entirely in Settings — see section 4.
• Clear or reset your local preferences any time by uninstalling the App or clearing the extension's storage in your browser.
• You decide what you type and which accounts you log into on destination sites — those interactions are governed by each site's own privacy policy.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy now and then, and we'll change the "Effective date" above when we do. But rest assured: giving you the option of zero data transmission will always remain the core principle of Über Ninja.
